Located in Gorham Maine, Sunshine Alpacas of Maine resides on an antique farm rich in history. Built in 1771 by Josiah Davis, the house was a team run Stage Tavern from 1800 to 1810. The original sign for the tavern now hangs in the Gorham village museum. In the early 1900's Mary Baker Young harbored race horses in the barn for the nearby racetrack, and sheep in the pasture for spinning wool that was made into hand crafted rugs and sweaters. Ms. Young gave the farm name of Sunshine Acres. Today, the farm is home to award winning Suri alpacas, llamas, chickens and Angora rabbits. Shawn & Lori Malloy are proud to be hands on in all aspects of the farm from animal care, breeding decisions, alpaca shows, to the fiber mill operation. The tradition of producing fine yarns, roving and felts lives on in the full service fiber mill, Flaggy Meadow Fiber Works, where we create soft roving, fabulous felt and luscious yarns. Our focus is on breeding for health animals with luxurious fiber. Our goal is simple, to produce the finest quality Suri alpaca.
